Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is the skilled use of hands to mobilize or manipulate joints, massage and lengthen soft tissues, and improve neuromuscular control. A key strength is the significant one-on-one time between therapist and patient.
After a comprehensive evaluation, the therapist selects the most appropriate techniques for the patient. These may include Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, joint mobilization, the Maitland approach, McKenzie Method, Mulligan Concept, Active Release, CranioSacral Therapy, and Strain Counterstrain.
Orthopedic Conditions
Treatment of the musculoskeletal system aims to reduce inflammation, improve mobility, and increase strength. Therapy often includes joint and soft tissue mobilization, therapeutic exercise, stretching, and other techniques to decrease pain, build strength, and help patients return to sports, hobbies, and daily activities.
Common conditions include:
Neck & Back: Low back pain, sciatica, muscle strains, neck and back surgery recovery
Shoulder & Arm: Rotator cuff injuries/repairs, frozen shoulder, shoulder tendinitis, tennis elbow, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome
Hip & Knee: Patellofemoral syndrome, hip/knee pain, total joint replacement (knee, hip, shoulder), IT band syndrome, ligament sprains
Lower Leg & Foot: Ankle sprains, shin splints, foot pain
Special Treatments: Dry needling, cupping, shockwave therapy, EMS
Every treatment plan is personalized to your condition, goals, and lifestyle to maximize recovery, restore function, and prevent future injury.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a treatment that uses thin, sterile needles inserted into muscle trigger points to relieve pain and improve movement. Patients may feel a brief twitch or mild aching sensation as the muscle responds to treatment.
It can help with conditions such as neck and back pain, headaches, plantar fasciitis, tendinitis, muscle spasms, and sports injuries. Many patients experience improved mobility and pain relief after treatment, though mild soreness may occur.
Dry needling is often covered as part of physical therapy benefits. For questions about insurance, please contact our office.
Taping Therapies
At Therapy One, we use two different taping techniques to support muscles and joints, reduce pain, and improve function. This includes Kinesio Tape and McConnell Taping.
Taping can provide immediate relief, improve range of motion, and support healing for athletes and non-athletes alike.
Kinesiology Taping gently lifts the skin to improve circulation, reduce swelling, and enhance muscle control.
McConnell Taping uses rigid tape to stabilize joints, correct alignment, and reduce stress on injured structures, making it especially helpful for knee and shoulder injuries.
Work Injury & Rehabilitation
At Therapy One, we help injured workers safely return to work through individualized, job-specific therapy. We work with case managers, adjusters, and safety managers to reduce lost workdays and support a safe recovery.
Our services include Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), pre-employment physical screenings, return-to-work evaluations, and work conditioning programs. Treatment plans are customized using real or simulated job tasks—such as lifting, climbing, or instrument playing—to restore strength and function. Patients also receive a personalized home exercise program to support recovery and prevent re-injury.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
An FCE is a comprehensive assessment that measures range of motion, strength, endurance, and tolerance for work-related tasks. It helps determine whether a patient can safely perform job duties and guides a safe return-to-work plan.
Spinal Conditions
Back pain is the leading reason patients seek physical therapy, affecting nearly every part of daily life. At Therapy One, we provide individualized assessments and treatment plans focused on rehabilitation, education, and prevention of future issues.
We treat a wide range of conditions, including muscle strains, spasms, surgical recovery, herniated discs, compression fractures, sciatica, SI joint dysfunction, fibromyalgia, and other acute or chronic spinal disorders. Our therapists use gentle, innovative techniques tailored to your needs, monitor your progress, and guide you every step of the way.
Eccentron Training
What is Eccentric Resistance?
Also called negative resistance, eccentric resistance occurs when muscles lengthen under contraction, like controlling your descent down stairs. This type of contraction generates up to 40% more muscle tension, building strength faster, enhancing stability, and reducing the risk of falls.
Who Can Benefit?
The Eccentron is ideal for patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, or cardiopulmonary conditions. Athletes can develop explosive power, while patients with medical limitations benefit from strength training that uses 80% less oxygen than traditional aerobic exercises.
Shockwave therapy
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive, 5–10 minute treatment using acoustic waves to accelerate healing for chronic musculoskeletal conditions like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and tendonitis. It stimulates tissue repair, breaks down scar tissue, and boosts blood flow, typically requiring 3–5 sessions for lasting pain relief.
Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS)
What is (EMS), or E-stim?
EMS is a therapeutic technique that uses electrical impulses to trigger muscle contractions, mimicking the body’s natural nerve signals to strengthen, rehabilitate, or relax muscles
How it Works: The device sends electrical currents through electrodes on the skin to stimulate nerves or muscle fibers. This causes rhythmic contractions, aiming to improve blood flow, increase range of motion, and build strength.
Types of EMS:
Interferential Current (IFC) is a deep-penetrating, low-frequency, non-invasive electrical stimulation used in physical therapy to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and decrease muscle spasms. Using four electrodes to create intersecting currents, it provides deeper tissue stimulation than standard TENS, typically creating a comfortable, tingling sensation.
Russian Stimulation (Russian Stim) is a high-frequency, non-invasive electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) used in physical therapy to strengthen muscles, prevent atrophy, and enhance recovery through deep, intense muscular contractions.
Ultrasound therapy in physical therapy is a noninvasive, painless, 5–7 minute treatment that uses high-frequency sound waves to generate deep heat in tissues like muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It treats pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood flow to accelerate healing for injuries like tendonitis, bursitis, and muscle spasms.
